Committees

The Washington Area General Service Assembly (Also known as Area 13).

The Area Committees play a vital role in the functioning of our Areas efforts to carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic.

Some of these committees play a strategic role ensuring more alcoholics hear about Alcoholics Anonymous and increases 12th step opportunities.

In addition some area committees perform an operational role allowing AA members an opportunity to provide their voice to larger scale initiatives too complex for AA groups and AA districts alone, and which they can perform only when they work together.

In this regard, any A.A. General Service area provides services to benefit local AA groups and AA districts and to improve our ability to carry the message to the sick suffering alcoholic outside of the rooms.

Archives

“Like any other A.A. service, the primary purpose of those involved in archival work is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous. Archives service work is more than mere custodial activity; it is the means by which we collect, preserve, and share the rich and meaningful heritage of our Fellowship. It is by the collection and sharing of these important historical elements that our collective gratitude for Alcoholics Anonymous is deepened.” - AA Archives Workbook
