General Service opportunities exist at various levels of Alcoholics Anonymous such as:

Group General Service Related Positions

  • Group Cooperation with the Professional Community Representative

  • Group Grapevine Representative

Representatives sit on their respective District Service Committee and Area 13 Service Committee equivalents and are encouraged to attend their meetings

District Service Positions

District Bridging the Gap Committee

Coordinates local activities to help connect alcoholics leaving treatment and incarceration with temporary A.A. members

  • District Bridging the Gap Committee Chair

  • Alternate District Bridging the Gap Committee Chair

  • District Bridging the Gap Committee Volunteer -  Includes local Group Bridging the Gap Representatives, or Group Treatment and Corrections Representatives, and/or local Group Hospital and Institutions Liaisons

District Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) Committee

Coordinates local activities to educate professionals about A.A. who may refer their patients, clients, parishioners or employees to A.A.

  • District Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) Committee Volunteer - Includes local Group Cooperation with Professional Community Representatives

District Grapevine Committee

Helps increase number of Grapevine Representatives, encourages Groups to participate in The Carry Message Program, makes local Grapevine Representatives aware of new Grapevine Publications, hosts local Grapevine Workshops, coordinates local Grapevine initiatives with Area Grapevine Committee

District Public Information (PI) Committee

Coordinates local activities to create awareness and educate the general public about the A.A. program

  • District Public Information (PI) Committee Volunteers - Includes local Group Public Information Representatives

District Events / Workshops Committee

Helps organize local District workshops (e.g. Safety in A.A., Practicing the Principles in Relationships, Traditions Workshops, etc) or unity building events (e.g. District Picnic, A.A. Movie Night, District A.A. Service Manual Musical) as a service to local groups

District Newsletter Committee

Publishes local District newsletter, passes around newsletter sign up forms at groups and local group and District events, keeps and maintains list of newsletter subscribers

Responsible for maintaining District Website and helps the District use different technologies were warranted to improve how the District carries the message and communicates with local groups

  • (1) All positions are for two (2) years

  • (2) Any A.A. whose home group is in Area 13 may make motions.

  • (3) Any A.A. member may attend any Area Assembly, Area Committee Meeting, or any Area Service Committee Meeting. A.A. members may participate, vote, create motions in, and move to amend motions in any Area 13 Area Service Committee Meeting.

  • (4) Only Area Committee Members (Area Service Committee Chairs, and Area Officers) may vote in Area Committee Meetings. Only Group General Service Representatives and Area Committee Members may vote in the business session of an Area Assembly.
